The Organizing Team works on unique creative projects, marketing, fundraising, and outreach to the greater community! We have 5 committees that work together to create a culture of community-care and prioritizing mental health. All students who want to get more involved in the behind-the-scenes of WSN are welcome to apply.

Organizing Team members are expected to attend weekly Monday meetings and three community events over the course of a semester (1-3hrs/week).

The Committees

  • This committee focuses on advocating for mental health destigmatization to off-campus and non-academic units (media outlets, University Administration). The goals of this committee are to further WSN’s mission of mental health advocacy to those not directly involved in the greater campus community. No previous podcast, website creation, or other online media experience is necessary to apply or join this committee.

  • This committee will be focused on creating a platform for WSN members to use their voices and improve the atmosphere of the organizational environment. Our goal is to create a comfortable space within WSN for all that encourages our members to continue engaging in our community. Using surveys, forums, small group discussions, and other unbiased polling this committee will brainstorm and implement programs for organizational improvement. No experience with collecting data or group facilitation is needed.

  • The mission of the Outreach and Partnerships Committee is to actively engage with the campus community, create meaningful connections, and contribute to the overall well-being of the campus community. Through targeted outreach efforts and strategic partnerships, our committee aims to raise awareness about WSN and promote mental health resources available on campus.

  • The purpose of the Strategy committee is twofold. The first objective is to create a strategic fundraising plan to support the continuation of WSN as a cost-free resource. This semester, this effort will concentrate on Giving Blueday, U-M’s annual day of giving & WSN’s largest fundraising event of the year. The second objective is to advance WSN’s operations & programming via data-informed initiatives. For Winter, there will be an emphasis on creating a more financially accessible environment for WSN, focused on fundraising efforts.

  • This committee aims to create a platform for WSN members and the wider U-M community to discuss various areas of mental health through social media. Our goal is to open up mental health dialogue across campus, give members of the WSN community an opportunity to share their personal stories, and remind students that it’s okay not to be okay.
